Positions & Issues
Improving the Roads
Our roads are in disrepair - the Michigan legislature passed our biggest road tax ever, and the roads are worse than ever! While it's possible more money needs to be invested in our infrastructure, it's become even more obvious that we also need to look at how the money is spent. Michigan's road repair formula was passed by the legislature in 1951; but our state looks nothing like it did 67 years ago. Ryan will stand up to the special interests who are in the way of change.
Jobs /Strong Economy
Ryan supports getting rid of red tape and the bureaucracy of the regulatory framework out of the way of small businesses. Less government helps the economy thrive.
Last year was the 10th Anniversary of the "temporary" state income tax increase passed during the Graholm "lost decade". Even though we have had 8 straight years of surpluses, Lansing just can't bring itself to keep the promise it made, and insists they need every dime of your money they can get. As a fiscal conservative, Ryan will bring the opposite mentality to Lansing - and make government keep its word.
As a reserve police officer, Ryan doesn't just talk about supporting the safety of our community, he acts upon it. The health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the 39th District are of the utmost importance, and our district deserves a defender like Ryan.
Few things are as important to our success as a state. Ryan supports education and bringing the option of skilled trades training back in the schools. Our schools should prepare our kids to reach their full potential no matter what career path they follow, by offering vocational education as well as college prep.
The Second Amendment
Ryan is a staunch supporter and defender of the Second Amendment and our natural right to self defense. As a firearms instructor, Ryan will stand strong against those who would use tragedy to scapegoat law abiding gun owners instead of focusing on the real, complex problems that legislators should actually be working on.

Growing up in West Bloomfield, I learned about public service from my uncle, State Representative and State Senator, David Honigman. He helped instill in me the desire to use my abilities to help people and to make things better for our community.
As a prosecutor, and an advisor to police departments and local governments, I witnessed how good laws and law enforcement protect people - and how outdated laws, uncaring bureaucracies and red tape hurt people.
As your next State Representative, I will fight to make government work for real people. I will make sure government does what it's supposed to do - but ONLY what it's supposed to. I will work to get big government out of your wallet and out of your business; but at the same time protect you from those who would do us harm.
